Professor Paulo Henrique Schneider, born in Estrela - RS, Brazil, began his academic history at the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), were he obtained his degree in Chemistry (2000), and in 2004 his PhD under the guidance of Professor Antônio Luiz Braga, at the same University, working on the synthesis of chiral ligands and their applications on asymmetric catalysis. In 2005, he moved to Porto Alegre for a postdoctoral position at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, were in 2006 he started his independent academic research career as a Professorat the Organic Chemistry Department. His research interests are focused on the synthesis of chiral ligands as well as organocatalysts applied in asymmetric organic reactions. In addition, his group is also interested in the development of new synthetic strategies and methodologies for the construction of C-C and Carbon-Chalcogen bonds, for the synthesis of important organochacogen compounds.
