Introduction to linear multivariate classification
The short course is an introduction to multivariate classification, that is, methods to relate independent quantitative variables to qualitative responses (classes). Topics will cover a brief introduction to supervised pattern recognition, measures to assess classification performances, theory and practice of main linear classification methods (LDA, PLSDA, SIMCA). A specific Matlab toolbox will be provided to students for guided exercises included in the course. Basic knowledge of PLS, PCA and Matlab are required.
